Life Membership Medal for Marco Marzella

Congratulations to Newmains & District Band percussionist Marco Marzella on receiving his Scottish Brass Band Association life membership medal for 50 years service to brass banding. He received his medal from the band’s Neil Cross at a recent concert.

Marco’s banding career started with Armadale Burgh where he enjoyed his first contest in 1972. Three years later he joined Whitburn and, from 1978 to 1984 played with the Army’s REME staff band.

Back in civvy life, he went to Fauldhouse Miners and has since played with Broxburn Public, Shotts St Patrick’s, Broxburn & Livingston, Kingdom, Newtongrange and, his current band, Newmains. Marco has not forgotten his banding roots and still meets up with a small number of the original Armadale players occasionally.
