20th Anniversary for Children’s Band

The NYBBGB’s Children's Band is 20 years old this year and will be celebrating with a summer residential course concluding with a special concert at the Martin Harris Centre, Manchester. The Guest Conductor, Lynda Nicholson, is a familiar face, being an NYBBGB alumni herself as well as being the conductor of the Children’s Band's first course. Joining Lynda as the Guest Soloist will be tenor horn player, Daniel Marsh. Daniel is a recent member of the Youth Band and is the current holder of the coveted Mortimer Prize.

Director of Artistic Planning, Dr Robert Childs commented, “The Children’s Band Summer residential course will be held in the historic surroundings of Stonyhurst College, Clitheroe, under the direction of Guest Conductor, Lynda Nicholson. Lynda directed the first National Children’s Band of Great Britain course in 2004 so we are delighted she is returning to direct the 20th Anniversary Course. There is some fantastic repertoire planned for the course and I’m sure the young musicians will have a terrific week with Lynda, and I know they’re in for a real treat when they hear the hugely talented Daniel Marsh.”

Tickets for the concert are available here.
