Cory is BIC Champion of Champions

Inspite of Covid-19 organisers of the Brass in Concert Championships were determined to showcase the finest in original brass band entertainment. In an online highlights Festival, on the originally planned weekend of 14 & 15 November, we treated to a magnificent top quality show, all streamed for free by World of Brass.

The Festival followed its traditional format, with Youth Brass in Concert kicking off proceedings on Saturday in a re-run of the 2019 contest, which was won outstandingly in 2019 (a result confirmed again in 2020!) by Wardle Academy Brass conducted by Lee Rigg. A superb Gala Concert featuring incredible guest soloists and band performances selected from the past fifteen years of Gala Concerts at the Sage concluded Saturday’s streaming.

Sunday’s Brass in Concert ‘Champion of Champions’ event featured the 13 highest achieving bands at the event since 2005, with a single full performance from each chosen by the management team in conjunction with the event’s Principal Partner, World of Brass. There was so much to admire with this wonderful trip down memory lane of very fine performances, but in the end the public decided that Cory’s winning ‘Jungle Book’ programme from 2019 deserved the ‘Champion of Champions’ status with a massive 34.2% of the vote.

If you missed out on the weekend the whole Brass in Concert Festival is available to watch for free for a further week via the following link: https://wobplay.com/?fbclid=IwAR2VooM3lNJ8gCERXm8l4Wh4HOhDarkagfDUtIRbQI-Fpybp3c213rWV3OU
