Top gear at Ev-Entz

EV-ENTZ Music has one of the largest stocks of Yamaha percussion equipment available for hire in the UK, ranging from a whole host of drum kits, to the magnificent five-octave marimba, as well as a full set of Majestic and Adams percussion for hire.

Said Managing Director, Adrian Evans: “Stage management has been a major part of our company since we formed in 1997. Since that date, our client list has grown enormously and we now stage-manage some of the largest events in the United Kingdom. We are the chosen supplier of orchestral technicians to the BBC National Orchestra of Wales and the Welsh National Opera Orchestra, and handle Music For Youth events all over the UK, as well as the MFY proms in the Royal Albert Hall, involving dozens of diverse musical groups and thousands of young people.

The Newport-based Company, which is also so visible handling percussion on stages at major events across the UK, including at the National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain, can handle a complete orchestral set-up including five-octave marimbas, crotales, gongs, a Mahler Box, the massive set of tubular bells heard on Mike Oldfield’s second Tubular Bells album, MalletKat’s and smaller percussion used in theatre pits, and even a baby grand piano.

“We have everything covered,” said Adrian Evans. “If you hire us, you are assured of an efficient, hard-working team that will ensure your event runs smoothly.”

Ev-entz’s ever-increasing stock is thoroughly maintained - Adrian commented: “We always ensure that the equipment comes ‘spick and span’, and
our percussion technicians can be on-hand to help set-up and dismantle percussion, assist with change-overs for competitions and even play, if needed! All our backline equipment undergoes regular PAT testing and gets checked before it leaves the warehouse, so you can be confident that only the highest standard of equipment arrives at your gig. We can also provide rolling risers to ensure the slickest of stage changeovers.”

The good news for brass bands is that Ev-entz now has a policy of replacing all of its Yamaha, Majestic and Adams percussion equipment every two years, and has a regular policy of selling off used, relatively new percussion equipment at up to 50 per cent less than new prices. Said Adrian Evans: “Rather than keeping our hire percussion for any length of time, we will be selling it all within a two-year period, which is great for brass bands that struggle to afford quality percussion equipment. All the used percussion sold will be fully serviced and in good condition, at discounted rates. The first batch of discounted percussion will be available this autumn. So keep watching our website for details of slightly used percussion equipment, as and when we sell it.”

The Company also offers some great services, from percussion repairs, a collection and delivery service, along with on-site repairs and its brass specialist is none other than Tom Hutchinson, principal cornet of Cory Band!
