Wessex 'pro' Cornet

CR95 Professional Bb Cornet
Manufactured by Wessex Tubas

Wessex Tubas is poised to release a new at the budget-beating price of £600 - £720 (including VAT).

The large bore model has first and third valve triggers for tuning, and blows like a ‘pro’, says MD of Wessex Tubas, Jonathan Hodgetts, commenting: “We’ve had it tested by some ‘pro’ cornet players, who say that it plays really well. This is the equal of more expensive brands and an ideal cornet for use in bands or orchestras - it deserves to be tried before buying!”

Wessex has also taken delivery of the Company’s new bass trombone, developed in collaboration with Chris Stern of Scottish Opera, which will go into production in 2017.

Said Jonathan Hodgetts: “We have a trombone, which is a good instrument, but modern trombone players want something a bit different. Chris Stern has tried the new bass trombone in the Orchestra, as well as with a lot of students and he’s very confident that this is a first-rate trombone, so it’s quite exciting for us.”

The rapidly expanding Wessex Tubas is just back from the Tuba/Euphonium Conference in Valencia, Spain, where Jonathan met more than 500 tuba and euphonium players interested in his Company’s range. He commented: “I couldn’t believe it - it was like the first day of the sales in the UK - there were large queues outside waiting for the venue to open and everyone rushed inside. We did a lot of sales there and received a lot of follow-up interest in our lines. We’re also attending the Music Austria trade fair in Ried next month, to make connection with bands in Austria and Germany.”
