With this arrangement, Paul Lovatt-Cooper offers a refreshing new take on a familiar ‘classic’ James Bond theme song. Opening mysteriously, the solo horn and flugel share a languid rendition of the opening theme before the addition of distant drum kit line starts to move the music forward. A quintet of three flugels, horn and second euphonium then continue, which can be featured in front of the band. The band builds to a sustained forte rendition of the tune, before finally fading away to close in a reprise of the opening themes. A skilfully executed new take on this popular song, the piece will, perhaps, be best suited to bands of the middle sections and above, although not necessarily beyond more ambitious lower section and youth bands.
