Investment in Youth by Laganvale

In January of this year, Laganvale Metal Technology Band began to invest in its future by forming a Youth Band of Children U18 from all around Northern Ireland.

Conductor, Andrew Pentland, commented, “I am privileged to be entrusted with the baton and have received such an enriched experience making music with these young people. We competed in our first contest in February and gained a credible third. However, we began to recruit once more and have taken the band from 16 members in February to 24 in April.”

On Friday 15 April, the band held its first concert and raised over £1,200 for the Alzheimer’s Society charity. Deputy Lord Mayor of Belfast Guy Spence, Vocal Soloist Julia Clarke and a Gospel Choir from Belfast City Centre from the victory for all nations church attended. After a fantastic night, Laganvale travelled two hours from Belfast to Strabane to win the Brass Band League of Northern Ireland’s Junior Band section for 2016.
