Tommy Tynan takes up the Baton

Linthwaite Band in West Yorkshire are delighted to announce the appointment of 18 year old Tommy Tynan of Grimethorpe Colliery band as their new Musical Director. Tommy’s debut concert with the band was in December 2015, after being approached for the post.

Chairman of the band, Bob Eastwood commented, “We are over the moon that Tommy has come to join us and brings his enthusiasm and commitment to developing the band. We are looking forward to a very bright future under his baton and he will be leading us at the Yorkshire Area Regional Brass Band contest.”

Tommy is also thrilled with this new partnership, "I'm delighted that the band chose to appoint me as their new conductor. I took numerous rehearsals and a concert before Christmas and was very impressed how the band reacted to my different style and approach to the music we played. The band are currently in a period of rebuilding but with some recent quality signings we are looking forward to a bright future starting at the Yorkshire 4th Section regional championships in Bradford on March 5th."
