Mathilde Roh is a Besson Artist

Mathilde Roh has joined the Besson team as a Besson Artist. Mathilde, a talented Swiss cornet player, began learning the cornet at the age of 8 with the Contheysanne d'Aven, the brass band of her village. From the age of 10, she distinguished herself by participating in and winning many regional and national competitions. Among her notable distinctions, she was the first woman to win the Valais Soloist Championship in 2016. She has also won the titles of Swiss cadet champion three times in 2012, 2013 and 2014 and Swiss champion in all categories. in 2018, 2019 and 2021. In 2017, she added to her list of achievements by winning the edition of the Swiss Music Prize.

At the age of 13, Mathilde joined the Treize Etoiles B Brass Band, led by her music teacher, Yvan Lagger. From 2012 to 2019, she participated in the National Youth Brass Band of Switzerland, occupying the position of principal cornet four times. In 2017, she moved to the main Treize Etoiles Brass Band, reaching the position of principal cornet in 2020, a role she still holds today.

Alongside her musical career, Mathilde continued her studies in veterinary medicine. A spokesperson for Besson stated, “Mathilde is one of Switzerland's most awarded soloists and her talent is second to none. We have been following her journey as both a soloist and with Brass Band 13* with great interest, respect and admiration for many years. There are very few women who can boast of having won the European title as Principal Cornet, and she is one of them. We wish Mathilde plenty more national and international success as a cornet virtuoso.” Mathilde plays on a Cornet Sovereign 928.
