Aileen Orr becomes a Young Ambassador

Mercer & Barker has welcomed Aileen Orr to their team as a ‘Young Ambassador’. Aileen is a 2nd year bass trombone player currently studying at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. Her musical journey began on tenor trombone in the South Lanarkshire instrumental music service. She soon started lessons with Charlie Farren through the Whitburn Band organisation switching to bass trombone in 2019.

Alongside brass banding, Aileen studied on the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland Juniors course before moving to Cardiff in 2022 to begin her studies at RWCMD. After a short time at City of Cardiff (M1), Aileen joined the Tongwynlais Temperance Band and is looking forward to playing with them at the National Finals in the Royal Albert Hall this October. Aileen has been a member of the National Youth Brass Bands of Scotland for 8 years and is currently the principal bass trombone player. Some recent highlights for Aileen include a side-by-side session with the BBC Symphony Orchestra and most recently she travelled to Vietnam as a member of the World Youth Orchestra.

Aileen currently plays on the MB1.5BT SS
