Brassed Off Reunion
Earlier this month Grimethorpe had the privilege of hosting a visit from members of the original cast and team from Brassed Off. Stephen Tompkinson (actor), Philip Jackson (actor), Mark Herman (writer and director) and Steve Abbott (producer)were welcomed back to Grimethorpe with a special performance to give thanks and award them Honorary Patronage of the band in recognition of their support following the international success of the film, which continues to resonate today.
Stephen Tomkinson commented, “These are incredible musicians, who are as brilliant as any orchestra in the world. Out of all the jobs I’ve ever done, this in the one that means the most to people. It’s just filled with beautiful memories for me. This story will always remain close with me, and the music will. To be a patron of this band is a dream come true.” A spokesperson for the band confirmed that it was “a special night of music and memories for all involved.”
