Adjudicator announced for Northern Counties contest

The adjudicator for this year’s Northern Counties entertainment contest will be Chris Robertson, solo euphonium with Brighouse and Rastrick Band. The event, which is sponsored by Besson and Band Supplies, will take place on Sunday 19 May in the North Inch Community Campus, Gowans Terrace, Perth.

The contest will be pre-drawn and start times will be confirmed prior to the event. Format is maximum 20-minute entertainment programme, with programme notes to be submitted, ideally prior to the day, for the compère. The usual SBBA registration rules apply, so please be aware that all participants in a performance, whether playing or otherwise, must be registered with the band or registered guest players under the usual SBBA rules.

Entry fee to the contest is £120. Non-contesting bands are encouraged to enter for adjudication only at a reduced rate of £60. There will be a prize of £200 for the winning band. Trophies will be awarded for the highest placed bands from sections 1-4 as well as for the Most Entertaining Programme, Best Soloist, Best Soprano, and Best Percussion. Entries and enquiries should be addressed to Jim Wishart at ncbba.president@gmail.com as soon as possible, but certainly before the closing date of Monday 22 April. See the SBBA website for entry forms and further information.
