Agnew joins Melton

Jonathan Agnew, the former England international test cricketer and BBC cricket broadcaster has recently signed for the Melton Band on euphonium.

Best known as a professional cricketer for Leicestershire and England then as a broadcaster for which he was awarded an MBE in 2017, Jonathan is rekindling a love of brass that has lay dormant for 45 years. He began his musical journey in prep school, where he clearly demonstrated talent going on to win a scholarship to Uppingham school for tuba, piano and voice.

The band welcomed him to the second euphonium chair, stating they are "very much look forward to working with him", whilst in response to being asked what banding advice he could offer Jonathan replied, “Know your place in a band and respect the other players”.
