Cooperation take Scottish Championship Honours

The cooperation band were awarded the spoils in today’s Scottish Championships in Perth. Drawing tenth in order of play, the band and its MD Dr Glenn Van Looy, had to maintain their composure as the last band to perform. They certainly did this, with one audience member stating, “it was amazing! Literally brought me to tears! I just loved the level of excellence, the artistry, and the emotion! Congratulations!” Perhaps it was an early draw that sealed Whitburn’s fate, with adjudicators Tom Davoren and Chris King awarding them the runner-up spot on this occasion, although with only one point separating the two bands. Bon Accord completed the podium places finishing the day in the third spot.

Winning their respective section Scottish National titles were Kirkintilloch, Newmains & District, Croy Silver and Bon-Accord B. Joining the winners at the National Championships in Cheltenham later this year will be Granite Brass, Broxburn & Livingston, Perthshire Brass and Buckhaven & Methil Miners. Full results are below with a review of the weekend in Perth appearing in the next issue of Brass Band World magazine.
