Bathgate Steelyard Challenge

The inaugural Bathgate Steelyard Challenge will take place on Saturday 25 May, promising ‘a unique blend of entertainment, competition and camaraderie’ in a new contesting format. The competition will see the transformation of the West Lothian town’s George Street and the Steelyard into a vibrant stage for brass bands and community spirit. Participating bands will march down George Street through the heart of Bathgate before showcasing their musical prowess in the Steelyard with a performance of an entertaining piece of music against the backdrop of the historic McLagan Fountain.

A distinguished brass adjudicator will be on hand to assess musical excellence, creating an unforgettable experience for both performers and spectators. The occasion is intended to provide a seamless transition between the bands to ensure a continuous flow of music and entertainment, creating a captivating rhythm throughout the day.

The Bathgate Steelyard Challenge is a collaborative event – hosted by the East of Scotland Brass Band Association and Bathgate Together, a collective of Bathgate community groups – which will create a unique musical extravaganza where brass bands and community spirit come together.
