BBCA Support for UniBrass

The Brass Band Conductors’ Association (BBCA) will work with the UniBrass Foundation as part of their annual contest, this year at Warwick Arts Centre on Saturday 17 February. The partnership will see BBCA representatives attend the UniBrass 2024 contest to observe the performances of competing bands. Competing conductors will then be given the opportunity to meet with a BBCA representative to discuss the performance and seek comments and helpful feedback on their conducting.

Speaking of the partnership BBCA Chair, James Holt, commented, "I am delighted that Matt Ryan (last year’s winner of the BBCA conduction competition) and BBCA Exec member Stuart Black will be teaming up with Unibrass this year. This partnership gives BBCA the chance to work with participating conductors as they make their way through their musical journey. We do not profess to have all the answers but are here to provide support and stimulate conversation to best assist any conductor. I am very keen for the Association to be supporting events, such as this one, and offering all we can to the development of conductors."

Sidney Pycroft, Chair of the UniBrass 2024 Organising Committee, said, "We are delighted to be working with the BBCA again for UniBrass 2024. After a successful collaboration at UniBrass 2023, it is great to be able to offer this opportunity for feedback and growth to even more conductors and bands this time. We are grateful to the BBCA for their involvement in providing a fantastic opportunity for growing young conducting talent and one which we hope our participants will appreciate again this year."
