Dutch National Glory for Rjinmond

Brassband Rjinmond under the skilled and experience leadership of Luc Vertommen, emerged victorious at the recent 42nd Dutch National Championships held in TivoliVredenburg complex in Utrecht. The piece testing the championship division bands was the exciting ‘Sand and Stars’ by Thierry Deleruyelle with the adjudicating panel of Sheona Wade, Florent Didier and Frans Violet making the all important decision. Although the result was close, with only a point between each of the top five placed band, it was Brass Band Rjinmond who claimed the title as well as the coveted invitation to the 2025 European Championship in Stavanger and a prize package worth Euros 3,500. Second placed Provinciale Brassband Groningen, whilst obviously diasappointed to miss out on the top spot by such a narrow margin were able to take some consolation with their flugel player Marianne Groothof winning the prize for best flugelhorn.

43 bands took part in the five sections of competition with congratulations owed to Pro Rege, Gereformeerde Brassband Groningen, Immanuel Uithuizermeeden and Ere Zij God Damwald who won the National titles in their respective divisions. The event was excellently run by the NBK organisers led by new Chairperson Ale Nicolai, and the performances were recorded by brasspass.tv and released on Monday 6th November. Full results can be viewed below and a review of the competition will appear in the next issue of BBW.
