Concord Victory at Danish National Champions

Nineteen bands took to the stage at the Musikhuset in Aarhus last weekend for the Danish National Championships; four in the Elite section vying for National honours and an invitation to the 2024 European Championships.

In celebration of the organising body’s, Dansk Amatør Orkesterforbund, 75th anniversary the set test was a new commission from Jacob Vilhelm Larsen: ‘Elysian Fields’. From Concord’s first performance the British adjudicating panel of Brett Baker, Garry Cutt and Daniel Thomas had the band and MD Jesper Juul Windahl in the lead. The comprehensive victory was sealed the following day with a scintillating own choice performance that gave the band a sizeable margin over second placed Lyngby-Taarbaek.

Frederiksberg Brass, Flyverhjemavaernets Musikkorps and FDF Gladsaxe Brass were also declared worthy winners of their respective sections and took home Danish National titles. Full results are below and a review of the event will appear in the next edition of BBW.
