Jim Bone is new MD of Broxburn & Livingston

Broxburn & Livingston Band is delighted to announce the appointment of Jim Bone as resident musical director. A world-class bass trombone player, Jim has a degree from the Royal Northern College of Music, followed by a masters degree from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) from the University of Lancaster.

Jim has experience in conducting various groups, including the orchestra at the East Glasgow Music School, and has been the conductor and tutor of Broxburn’s Future Brass for the past six years. Jim is delighted with his appointment and, in preparation for the next month’s Scottish Challenge contest, will be working alongside professional conductor Andrew Duncan.

Andrew, who currently plays principal tuba for the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, as well as having a busy career as an arranger and composer, has taken a number of bands to various contests over the last 20 years including Whitburn, Kingdom Brass, Newtongrange, Grimethorpe Colliery, Unison Kinneil, Bo’ness & Carriden and Brighouse & Rastrick bands.
