BBC to Feature RAH Final

The BBC has recognised the national significance of this coming weekend’s National Championship Section Final 2023 by featuring Edward Gregson’s wonderful set test-piece ‘Of Men and Mountains’, along with interviews from the composer and defending National Champions Foden's Band in a BBC Radio 3 programme on contest day. The BBC have already viited Sandbach where interviews were conducted with Foden’s Band’s Musical Director Russell Gray, Principal Cornet Mark Wilkinson, Flugel Horn Soloist Melanie Whyle and Principal Trombone John Barber.

Starting at 11:45am on Saturday 21 October, the radio programme ‘Music Matters’ presented by Tom Service will focus on the background to Gregson’s work, the significance of the piece finally being performed at its intended venue, London’s iconic Royal Albert Hall, along with the emotions that performers will go through at such a prestigious occasion & venue.
