Brass day lifts the roof

Pangbourne College press statement: Awesome, sensational, and uplifting were three words one could use to describe the second annual Brass Day organised by Head of Brass, Mr Jonathan Corry, at Pangbourne College on the final Sunday of January. James Fountain (Principal Trumpet, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra), encouraged and guided eight trumpeters aged 8-18 in a Trumpet Masterclass.

In the two concerts which followed, he performed solos with the Guards Brass Ensemble of the Corps of Army Music and Enfield Citadel Band.  Additionally, a Guards Fanfare Team, a Guards Brass Quintet, and Pangbourne College Marching Band, as well as soloists Finley South-Klein (Tuba), Bethan Smith (Mezzo Soprano), and Sam Turner (Trombone) from Pangbourne College, together gave masterful performances which celebrated the colour, pomp and brilliance of Brass instruments, their instrumentalists, and a varied and interesting repertoire.
