Whit Friday Wins for Foden’s and Brighouse

Blessed with beautiful weather as well as the usual mix of competition and bonhomie, the 2023 Whit Friday Marches in Tameside and Saddleworth and Oldham District were a resounding success. Bands from all over Britain, and further afield, convened for a fabulous afternoon, evening and well into the night for some, at the local venues of both circuits. In the end it was the National Champions Foden’s who took the top honours in Tameside, winning the title for the 19th time in the last 20 years, with six victories to their name this year. In Saddleworth and Oldham District it was the British Open Champions, Brighouse and Rastrick that took the overall victory, with six convincing wins for the band under the direction of Guest MD Garry Cutt. Congratulations to all the competitors, supporters and of course the organisers, who’s mammoth efforts meant both events ran smoothly for the enjoyment of all involved. The full results can be view below with a full review of the event appearing in the next issue of Brass Band World Magazine.
