EBBC Malmo Results Round-Up

Congratulations are owed, not only to the incredible bands that performed as part of the blue ribband Championship Section of the European Brass Band Championships, but also to the superb bands in the Challenge Section and the fabulous talent on display in both the Premier and Development Youth Sections of the contest.

Taking place on Saturday 6th May the Challenge Section contest was won by Brass Band Uberetsch, under the leadership of Johann Finatzer. Adjudicators Martyn Brabbins, Anne Crookston and Ivan Meylemans awarded the band a 3-point margin of victory across both halves of the contest with the band’s solo euphonium player also scooping up the award for Best Instrumentalist.

In the Youth divisions it was Catch Basin Brass Band who were victorious in the Premier Section and Smoras Skolemusikk taking the top spot in the Development Section. There was a great deal for audiences to admire in both sections, not least the talents of Jakob Ettlinger (trombone) and Samuel Winter (marimba) who were awarded the best soloist prizes in their respective sections.

Full results can be viewed below and a detailed review of the event will appear in the next issue of Brass Band World.
