Haverhill to celebrate the Coronation at Newmarket

Haverhill Silver Band is looking forward to performing at Newmarket Racecourse on the Coronation weekend. The band will play at a special celebration on Saturday 6th May combining the Coronation of King Charles III with the three-day QIPCO Guineas Festival. The racecourse will be themed to reflect the day and will also show the Coronation on dedicated screens around the course before the racing begins. Haverhill Silver Band joins an impressive line-up of contributors for the event including sensational soprano singer Laura Wright, who will be leading the National Anthem and Michelin starred chef, Michel Roux who will provide a ‘Chez Roux’ experience for selected guests.

The band will be contributing to the atmosphere by giving two performances at 10.30am and 12.30pm: a patriotic Coronation-themed programme followed by popular tunes and easy-listening music. Commenting on the unique performance opportunity Haverhill Musical Director, Paul Filby said, “We are delighted to return to Newmarket races again this year, especially as part of the QIPCO 2000 Guineas Festival and Coronation celebrations. The profile couldn't really be any higher with the event expected to attract a crowd well in excess of 15,000 as well as international news and media coverage.”
