Hepworth wins Dr Martin Wainstone Cup
Congratulations to the Hepworth Band and MD Ryan Watkins on winning the Dr Martin Wainstone Cup contest held at Yarm School in Stockton on Tees last weekend. The band impressed judge Sheona Wade with George Allen’s march 'The Wizard', followed by horn soloist Georgia Woodhead performing 'Capriccio Brillante' and the band’s own-choice test piece 'On Alderley Edge' by Peter Graham. The high quality performance earned Hepworth £4,650 in prize money as well as a clear margin of victory over fellow Yorkshire rivals Elland Silver, with City of Bradford in third.
Commenting on social media Hepworth stated, "Delighted to pick up the Wainstones Cup today, winning the Dr Martin Contest. Particular mention to our horn player Georgia Woodhead for a great solo performance. A big thank you to all the staff, volunteers and to adjudicator Sheona Wade for your kind comments."
