Fulham Brass Band’s new Composer in Residence

 

Florence Maunders has been announced as the new Composer in Residence at Fulham.  The band was paired with Florence as part of Making Music UK’s Adopt a Music Creator initiative. A spokesperson from Fulham Brass Band stated, “She produced a super work for us, ‘Sewers Crisis’, which we premiered in May and we’ve really enjoyed working with her, so asked if we could do it some more! Flori will be in residence for two years and will create three new pieces for brass band – an extended major piece, a solo work and something to add to regular concert repertoire.” 

Florence is an RNCM graduate and has since enjoyed a diverse of career as a jazz pianist, vocal arranger, electronic music producer and teacher. She’s has written for and performed with brass ensembles before and is inspired by a diverse musical palette including Stravinsky, bebop jazz, Messiaen and Tower of Power.
