River City Success for Wainwright

Andrew Wainwright has been announced as the winner of the River City Brass, 40th anniversary Composers Competition. Andrew’s composition, ‘Resilience’ was chosen as the winning work by esteemed adjudicators James Gourlay (Artistic Director of River City Brass), Dr. Peter Graham, Dr. Martin Ellerby and two members of RCB, Drew Fennel and Abigail Langhorst. 

There were 67 entrants from 14 countries, that underwent a stringent selection process where the top sixteen were further reduced to four finalists. The trio of runners-up: 'Awakening' by Marcus Venables, 'Dance with the Brass Tonight' by Katerina Horka and 'Never Celt Better' by Jared McCunnie were each awarded prize money of {{template}},000 with the winning ‘Resilience’ by Andrew Wainwright awarded ,000.

Commenting on the competition James Gourlay stated, "All in all, we had a lot of fun running the competition and will do it again the year after next."
