Hepworth win at Holme Valley

Following a three-year hiatus owing to Covid the 94th Holme Valley Contest was back with a bang last weekend. Adjudicator Roger Webster was effusive in his praise for the competitors, awarding local favourites Hepworth the top section prize. The band was the clear victor winning  the own choice test-piece on 'Paganini Variations' as well as the hymn tune category. Individual prizes also went to euphonium player Ben Smith, soprano Dale Garner and conductor Ryan Watkins.

In Section B was won by Tewit Silver, fresh from their recent Area success in the North of England with Dobcross Silver taking the Section C honours and Tewit Youth Band winning the Youth Award.
