Fantastic line-up for StAMP Virtual Conservatoire Session
St Andrews Music Participation (StAMP) is running another of its highly successful Virtual Conservatoire sessions on Saturday 7 May, from 2pm to 4pm. The sessions are open to any brass player from anywhere in the world and, as usual, this event will feature some incredible guests: Lee Holland (mindfulness), Richard Michael (playing by ear), Raymond MacDonald (creativity and communication in music), The Wallace Collection (19th century discoveries) and doyen of the brass world, Howard Snell in conversation.
Performance coach Lee Holland will encourage participants to try some techniques to introduce mindfulness into practice and performance. Honorary Professor of Jazz, Richard Michael, will employ his infectious way of getting everyone playing by ear. Professor Raymond MacDonald will then discuss and explain his insights about creativity and communication in music. The Wallace Collection will then share some of their latest discoveries from the 19th century, in particular period arrangements of Haydn string quartets.
Finally, doyen of the brass world Howard Snell will lead a question and answer session and participants are invited to submit their questions in advance.
The event timetable is as follows:
1400-1410 Mindfulness for Musicians
1410-1420 Playing by Ear
1420-1430 Virtual play along with The Wallace Collection
1430-1450 Add some creativity and communication in music
