NASUWT Victorious in the North

NASUWT Riverside were crowned winners of the North of England Regional Championships this weekend making it a trio of are wins for MD Professor Nicholas Childs in 2022. The band impressed adjudicators Roger Webster and Andrew Duncan with an assured performance of the challenging ‘Contest Music’ by Heaton, picking up Best Soprano and Best Cornet prizes for Phillip Tait and Tina Mortimer respectively. Joining NASUWT Riverside at the Royal Albert Hall in October is Easington Colliery, who claimed the runner-up spot just ahead of Reg Vardy.

Congratulations are also owed to Kirkbymoorside Town, Tewit Silver, Jayess Newbiggin and Flookburgh the winners of their respective section with credit also to fellow National qualifiers Houghton Brass, Bearpark and Esh Colliery, Ellington Colliery Band and North Lakes Brass who will join them later this year in Cheltenham.
