Foden’s Win in the North West

Foden’s claimed a sixth consecutive North West Regional title this weekend at the Winter Garden in Blackpool with a superb performance of Wilfred Heaton’s ‘Contest Music’. The reigning National Champions were on fine form under the skilled direction of Russell Gray drawing particular praise from the adjudicators for the musicality of the second movement. Leyland and Oldham Bands completed the podium places and will join the winners for the National Finals in the RAH this October owing to Foden’s pre-qualification.

Congratulations also to Ashton-under-Lyne, Pemberton Old Wigan DW B, Skelmersdale and Morecambe the winners of their respective sections in addition to Acceler8, Tyldesley, Formby and City of Dobcross Silver the runner-up qualifiers for the Lower section Nationals in Cheltenham.

A full contest review will feature in the next issue of Brass Band World magazine.
