Haut-de-France wins National Championships

Congratulations to Haut-de-France Brass Band, conducted by Luc Vertommen, on winning the French National Championship title in Normandy last weekend. The band took the victory in some style, both retaining the title and converting it into a hat-trick of wins by winning a 7th title win out the 17 times the competition has run. In addition to the National title, the band’s superb performances of the set-work, 'Dynasty' by Peter Graham and their own-choice selection, 'Sinfonietta No. 2: Quatre Impressions' by Pierre-Antoine Savoyat, secured the band a place at the 2023 European Brass Band Championships in Malmö, Sweden. The band's percussion team also winning the 'Best Section' award provided the icing on the cake.

Paris Brass Band, conducted by Laurent Douvre had to settle for the runner-up spot on this occasion, although the band also produced two very fine performances. Congratulations are also extended to Aeolus Brass Band, Les Coniques Brass Band and Brass Band du Laonnais on winning National titles in their respective sections.
