IBB Media to showcase 2022 UniBrass Championship

The curtain will soon rise on the prestigious 2022 UniBrass Championship and IBB Media Ltd will be bringing the contests to brass music fans far and wide so they can savour the action. The UniBrass Championship is to take place at the University of Sheffield on February 5, 2022 and will comprise two sections, the Trophy and the Shield, with BrassPass.tv bringing viewers all the action live and on-demand. More than 20 bands are due to take part, all performing 20-minute programmes, with the aim of entertaining the audience and adjudicators alike. Viewers will be able to enjoy all the action, live or on demand, for £5.

Martin Gernon, managing director of IBB Media Ltd, commented: "UniBrass has grown to become one of the most innovative and exciting events in the UK brass band calendar and BrassPass.tv is proud to be bringing the prestigious championship to audiences far and wide. With an impressive line-up of bands and diverse, entertaining programmes on offer, make sure you are able to catch all the action from what promises to be a wonderful day in Sheffield at the 2022 UniBrass Championship."

The Trophy section features 10 bands and will be hosted in the Octagon Centre, a large performance and events venue, connected to Sheffield’s award-winning Students’ Union. The first band takes to the stage at 10.40am. Eleven bands will compete in the Shield Section, which gets under way at 10.15am and will be held in the university’s Drama Studio, an atmospheric and intimate venue inside a converted Baptist church. There are also numerous other awards, such as most entertaining, best soloists, and best student composition, as bands aim to impress adjudicators Andrea Price and Chris King (Trophy) and Jack Capstaff and Jayne Murrill (Shield).

Voirrey Baker, chairperson of the 2022 UniBrass Championship organising committee, commented: “UniBrass is really looking forward to an exciting day of music-making and a celebration of all things brass. We are delighted to continue our partnership with BrassPass.tv, which will again be livestreaming both sections of the contest across the country and the world. The 2022 UniBrass event is promising to be a wonderful showcase of the talents of university brass bands, and the future of the brass banding movement.”
