Refreshed format for 2022 Fife Brass Band Festival

After taking place virtually last year, the Fife Brass Band Festival is back to being a live music event with a refreshed format. Now an open entertainment contest to which bands from every section across Scotland and beyond are invited, the festival will be held on Saturday 23 April at the Carnegie Hall in Dunfermine. Two independent adjudicators will assess all bands not only on their musical performances but also the entertainment value of each own-choice programme. There will be prizes for the overall winning band, the most entertaining performance and the best band in each section.

All bands should perform a programme of 15 minutes playing time which should include one piece to reflect the feeling of the band during the pandemic. Previous contests had been based on sections with 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes for musical performances alone being on offer for bands in each section. Further information and entry forms are available from the Events page on the SBBA website. Closing date for entries is Saturday 26 March.
