Valaisia wins 2021 Swiss National Championships

Under the baton of Arsene Duc, Valaisia won the Swiss National for the sixth time in a row, with its leader, Vincent Bearpark, picking up both the Best Principal Cornet in Set Work and Best Soloist in Own Choice awards. Although Michael Bach’s Brassband Bürgermusik Luzern won the Set Work, a surprising sixth place for its Own Choice performance meant that victory went to Arsene Duc and Valaisia, who will now represent Switzerland at the EBBC in Birmingham next year, hoping that they can once again ascend the summit of world banding to win the European title as they did in 2018. In the other sections, divisional honours went to Ensemble de Cuivres de Euphonia, Brassband Bern, Feldmusik Escholzmatt, Musik Frohsinn Oberburg and Jugend Oberer Sempachersee.

Full results can be viewed below and a detailed review will appear in the next issue of Brass Band World Magazine.
