Regional Championships 2022 Schedule

The full schedule for the 2022 National Championship of Great Britain regional contest series has now been confirmed.

The North West Championships will be the first of the eight qualifying events for the Royal Albert Hall and Cheltenham and will take place in the Winter Gardens, on Sunday 27th February. National Champion Foden's will want to defend the title making it six top-section titles in a row, although the band has automatic qualification for the finals, meaning that three bands in total will compete at the Royal Albert Hall.

On the 5th & 6th March the Yorkshire Championships will take place at Huddersfield Town Hall. Second, Third and Fourth Section bands will compete on the Saturday with First and Championship Sections on the Sunday. Defending champions Black Dyke have pre-qualified owing to the band’s fourth place finish at the Royal Albert Hall, so three Yorkshire bands will travel to the finals.

The 12th & 13th March sees contests taking place in Scotland, the Midlands and West of England. The Scottish Championships take place at Perth Concert Hall, where the Third, Second and First Sections will take place on Saturday. The Fourth, 4B and Championship events take place the following day, with the top section Scottish champion also claiming the honour of representing the nation at the 2023 European Championships. The defending champion is the cooperation band who will be looking to complete a hat-trick of wins.

The West of England Championships will be held at The Riviera Conference Centre in Torquay with the Fourth, Second and First Sections taking place on Saturday and the Third and Championship Sections on Sunday.

Midland’s bands will compete at The Civic Hall in Bedworth, with the Second and First Sections on the Saturday followed by the Third and Championship contests the next day. It is important to note that the Fourth Section will take place at the same venue the following weekend on Sunday 20th March.
