Creative New Zealand Music Awards

 

Following a year of COVID-19 impacts and funding suspensions, Creative New Zealand is has awarded its 2021 Music Scholarships. Creative New Zealand Senior Manager Arts Development Services, Cath Cardiff commented, “Creative New Zealand is thrilled to be able to offer this opportunity in 2021 to give much needed support to New Zealand musicians so that they can pursue international professional development opportunities. COVID has proved challenging for the arts but it also proved how invaluable they are during a crisis, particularly music.”

Amongst the award winners is Dominic Jacquemard who receives a New Zealand/Aotearoa Music Scholarship from Creative NZ of ,000 towards Master of Music in Percussion at Het Conservatorium van Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Dominic was a member of the National Secondary Schools' Brass Band five times (2012-2016), the National Youth Brass Band six times (2013-2018), winner of the National Junior Percussion solo on five consecutive occasions and winner of the Junior Champion of Champions title in 2016. Having developed his percussions skills with The Devon Hotel New Plymouth Brass Band Dominic joined champion band, Wellington Brass while studying at Tē Kōki New Zealand School of Music.
