Fulham’s Celebrity Christmas

Hammersmith and Fulham born celebrities help Fulham Brass Band Celebrate Christmas. With it not being possible to present a live Christmas concert this year, Fulham Brass Band has filmed a special performance to be released online in full on Sunday 13 December. The band filmed this mini-concert in early November, with COVID safe procedures all in place.

The event will be hosted by three celebrity guests, all from the Hammersmith and Fulham area: Seb Coe, winner of four Olympic gold medals and President of World Athletics, author and former Blue Peter Presenter, Konnie Huq, and Have I Got News for You’s, Paul Merton.

Guest soloist for the concert is London Symphony Orchestra violinist, Maxine Kwok. She performs Peter Graham’s beautiful ‘Away in a Manger’, originally written for flugel horn. The pandemic situation meant that the band recorded the backing in their Fulham base, and Maxine recorded her solo part eight miles away at her home in Barbican.

The band also welcomes Melodians Steel Orchestra (UK), a fantastic South London-based ensemble that has performed in over 30 countries, as it’s guest ensemble.

Maxine’s performance can be viewed below before the full concert is released next weekend.
