Swiss Alto Horn Festival 2021

The Swiss Alto Horn Festival will go ahead on the 27th and 28th March 2021. The event will include the much anticipated solo competition, as well as masterclasses and performances from Owen Farr (Wales), Tim de Maeseneer (Belgium), Andrea Scherrer-Matter (Swizerland) and the Ensemble de Cuivres Melodia.

Horn players wishing to enter the soloist competition will have the option of performing Philip Sparke’s ‘Aria’, ‘Bel Canto’ by Kenneth Downie, ‘An Untold Story’ by Paul Lovatt Cooper or Hugh Nash’s perennial ‘Demelza’. There are further choices to be made in round two with the finalists tackling Gareth Wood’s ‘Concerto for Tenor Horn’ in the upper section and ‘Cornucopia’ by Bram Wiggins in the lower section. Prize winners will receive between 100CHF and 1,000 CHF dependent on position and section.

Further details and a full programme for the event are available from www.julienroh.com/sahf21
