Saddleworth’s Day of Music

Following the announcement that the traditional Whit Friday Marches had to be cancelled, residents in the Saddleworth area are being encouraged to share their own musical talents on June 5th.  A Facebook group called 'Saddleworth Day of Music' is asking local residents to perform on their own instruments or sing on Friday June 5th.

A spokesperson for the initiative stated, “To get involved on the 5th June just simply post a short film or link of yourself playing music. Anywhere on Facebook or Twitter is fine as long as you make it public and use the hashtag #saddleworthdayofmusic. We will share as many as we can in the group. Remember although it will be Whit Friday, it doesn't have to be brass. All instruments are welcome including the human voice.

“On the day we'd also like to see your personal celebrations so please also feel free to share pictures of yourself and your families enjoying the music and hopefully the sunshine. We will start the day off at 9am with ‘Hail Shining Morn’, then anything goes.”
