Withington Conducting School goes Digital

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic the 2020 course, which was to be held in its regular location of Leeuwarden in the Netherlands had to be cancelled. Determined to find a solution Allan and Course Administrator Anja Abma have decided to make it a digital course instead. The 12th course will now become the Allan Withington Digital Conducting School — using ZOOM technology to link up.

Commenting on the innovative solutions Allan stated, "Because of the present situation we are unable to organise this year's course in the usual way, but we didn't want to miss out on reaching out to musicians. The course will return in June 2021, but we thought we could also use the lockdown to explore a creative solution, so came up with the idea of the Digital Conductor School.

"It still means that we can offer a variety of teaching packages — from a simple one hour problem solving or conducting technique session, through to a series of three lessons, or an ongoing development series of six lessons. Each lesson is carefully designed to cover different aspects of this fascinating profession and caters to the individual needs of each student, so please get in touch and find out more — we are here to help and engage with conductors of all levels and abilities — all from the comfort of your own home!"
