Brass off the Bus

‘Brass on the Bus’ is a fundraising event which first took place on Saturday the 2nd of April 2016. Devised by Tom Steer and Kaitlin Wild whilst at music college in London, musicians travelled around London with a brass band on a Routemaster bus, playing outside some of London's most iconic venues and raising money for charity. It has grown into an annual event that is the highlight of the year for brass players and unsuspecting members of the public alike!

Commenting on the venture Tom stated, “Over the course of the last five years we’ve given twenty performances to hundreds of people at some of London’s most iconic landmarks, raising thousands of pounds for Mind, Music & the Deaf and the London Music Fund. The band is made up of professional musicians and students who generously give their time for free. Sadly we've had to postpone this year's event, but we hope you enjoy our Brass on the Bus video and consider donating.”

Kaitlin continued, “We hope you will all enjoy this remote performance from our outstanding band! Huge thanks to our players for donating their time and exquisite playing, and a huge thanks to Tom Kearsey for doing the AV. Sadly, owing to the current Coronavirus situation, we’ve had to postpone this year’s event. However, we hope that our video may provide a suitable musical tonic for everyone at this difficult time. Please visit our page and, if you can, then please do consider following the Just Giving link and donating. We will then carry on fundraising when we can (hopefully) do the live event later in the year.”
