Still Brassed Off

The planned ‘Brassed Off Live’ event featuring the Grimethorpe Colliery Band on 15th April at the Royal Albert Hall was sadly cancelled owing to coronavirus. However, the show must go on and so it is to be included as part of the Royal Albert Home series. There will also be a showing of the film on Film 4 later that same night at 9pm.

A statement from the hall says: “In these strange times, closing the Hall’s doors is the best way to look after the world, but we are now opening a (virtual) window for you to experience some of the most talented artists around. We will be streaming some exclusive Brassed Off content ahead of the film being broadcast on Film4. We’ll announce further details in due course.”

This 1996 bittersweet comedy drama, written and directed by Mark Herman, stars Pete Postlethwaite as Danny, the devoted leader of the Grimley Colliery Band, who is determined to show that ‘we are not defeated’. Ewan McGregor, Stephen Tompkinson and Tara Fitzgerald are stand-outs in an impressive ensemble cast.

A spokesperson for the band stated, “Of course we would have loved to have been in London performing to a sold out Royal Albert Hall, but this is the next best thing!” Follow the link below for further details:
