Double Saxhorn Appointment in Belgium

Royal Conservatoire Antwerp in Belgium has just appointed two superb new teachers for Saxhorn, Kevin Van Giel (Euphonium) and Lode Violet (Cornet). Both musicians are principals of their respective instruments in the acclaimed Willebroek Brass Band and their appointment is particularly significant as it means the Royal Conservatoire Antwerp becomes the first  school in Belgium to have two saxhorn teachers within the brass faculty. Speaking about the appointment Lode stated, “I’m delighted with the appointment, not least because I will be following in my father’s footsteps as he retires next academic year. We’re both looking forward to taking up our positions and teaching instruments of the brass band family.”
