Cory Raises Spirits

Cory Band has been trying to raise the spirits of the banding community by introducing its first attempt at social distance banding. The players and MD Philip Harper individually recorded themselves playing along to a click track, which was later edited to produce the final video version of, ‘Chitty Chitty Bang Bang’!

The band released the video on Facebook along with the following comments, “Our performance standards here won’t win any contests for sure, but we're not bothered as long as it helps bring a smile to people’s faces during this worrying time. We plan to do more of these in the coming weeks and months, and at some stage will be seeking musicians from other bands to join with us. We might even invite a virtual guest conductor too.

“If you like our music, you can buy our latest CD, 'The Jungle Book Live' from www.coryband.com. You can also listen to the entire version of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and the whole ‘Storytelling’ CD free on YouTube https://youtu.be/ZMX3Bv9x5gI courtesy of World of Brass.

“Finally, we know the world is currently facing tough times financially, and every little bit of support is going to be crucial to keep our amazing musical organisations going. If you can support Cory Band at this difficult time please visit https://bit.ly/3abv1Kb make a donation."

The video has already captured the media’s imagination with BBC Radio Wales interviewing Philip Harper earlier today and BBC Breakfast promising to feature the video before 9am tomorrow. Ali Woodman stated, “An absolute editing nightmare, but totally chuffed with how this has come out. Over 110 thousand views in one afternoon and being featured on BBC Breakfast Time tomorrow. #KeepSafeKeepSmiling”
