Todmorden Bandstand Saved

Following seemingly never-ending announcements of cancellations and postponing of much loved banding events, news of a more positive nature is very welcome: Calderdale Council formally agreed to work with local groups and save the historic Todmorden bandstand.
 
The announcement follows a concerted campaign and a 2,000-signature petition to prevent the demolition of the Grade II listed structure. Work will now begin to secure the funding to meet the £200,000 cost of refurbishment. Save Our Bandstand campaigner Neil Davies stated,  "The future of the bandstand is now more secure but we still have a lot work in front of us to finalise the Business Plan, identify what works are required, get more people involved and secure the funding."
