The Cooperation Band are Scottish Champions

The Cooperation Band under the direction of Russell Gray is celebrating for the second year in a row as Scottish Champions today in Perth. Following an engaging performance of Philip Sparke’s ‘A Tale as yet Untold’, adjudicators Sandy Smith and Dave Barringer placed them two points ahead of the rest in Scotland winning qualification to the National Championships in London and an invitation to the 2021 European Championships in Malmö, Sweden.

Bon Accord Silver were awarded the runner-up spot and were delighted to have also secured qualification to compete at the Royal Albert Hall in October. Whitburn could only manage fourth on this occasion, but pre-qualification means that they will make up the trio of Scottish representatives in London this year, with third placed Kirkintilloch Kelvin Brass narrowly missing out on the trip.

Congratulations are also in order for the qualifiers for the Lower Section National Finals in Cheltenham later this year, particularly Kingdom Brass, Annan Town, Croy Silver and Newland Concert Brass who won their respective sections. A full review of the weekend's events will appear in the next edition of Brass Band World magazine.
