Foden's Solo Contest

On Saturday 2nd November Foden’s Band held their annual Solo and Ensemble competition at Sandbach School attracting 135 competitors across 16 sections.

Speaking about the contest Andrew Rolfe from Foden’s commented, “We would like to thank all those competitors and supporters who attended our 9th annual contest which included a large number of overseas visitors from Belgium, Norway and Switzerland. Once again the standard across the sections was extremely high and our adjudicators Mike Lovatt, John Doyle and Mark Wilkinson had a number of difficult decisions to make due to this. As well as adjudicating, Mike Lovatt provided an inspirational master class that left everyone in awe of his fantastic playing. The Foden’s members were kept busy all day stewarding the event as well as serving and making hot food. Ian Clowes was in attendance taking photos which have been made available to purchase via the below link.”

Andy continued, “We would like to thank Kapitol Promotions and Brass Band World for inviting the winner of the Open Air Varie, Lorenz Havermans to play a recital at the Kapitol National Brass Band Finals at Cheltenham in 2020 prior to the results. Without the support of Kapitol Promotions, Brass Band World, Hercules, Sandbach Music, Goldy Solutions and Sandbach Town Council the event would not be able to take place. Our thanks also go to our Main sponsor Geneva Instruments for their support and for awarding a large number of instrument vouchers as prizes.”
