Sovereign Brass has announced that conductor Chris Turner will lead the band as they compete in the Championship Section of the Midlands Regional Championship in 2020.
Chris comes from excellent banding pedigree, having played at the very highest level and won every prize going as a cornet player. He has also made a name for himself as a skilled conductor with Llwydcoed Band in Wales. He has led them to success in the Welsh League series, National Eisteddfod, Wychavon, Welsh Area and Senior Cup gaining promotion to the Grand Shield in 2020.

A spokesperson for the band stated, "We're really excited to have the opportunity to work with Chris and we're sure he will bring confidence, energy and determination to the band both for the regional contest and our other projects. Chris has also played for some of the world's finest bands such as Black Dyke and Cory and has an understanding of what it takes to excel at all levels of competition."

Band Chairman, David Hirst added, "This news further confirms our determination to make a significant mark on the contesting front in 2020 with a renewed sense of vigour."

Chris will make his first appearance with the band at Brierley Hill Civic Hall on the 11th December.
