Big Big Train Brass tour UK

The Big Big Train is in the midst of its first UK tour, performing songs from their forthcoming studio album and back catalogue, including The Underfall Yard (in its 10th anniversary year. The shows feature the band’s full live line-up including their superb brass ensemble. The group of brass musicians include: Tuba - Jonathan Truscott, Euphonium – John Storey (Besson Artist), Trombone - Dave Desmond, French Horn - Nick Stones, Trumpet - Ben Godfrey and additional Trumpet for this tour - Paul Hawkins.

Euphonium player John Storey explained the concept, “It brings together two very different genres in a fusion creating a unique listening experience. The idea was to reflect the words, which often describe stories of the industrial age, with a traditional brass band style group. The brass concept has transitioned over time to complement the lyrics and writing styles of the band members. The brass has been part of BBT for 10 years, first appearing on The Underfall Yard album, and has performed live with the group since the first live shows at King's Place London in 2015. All regular members of the brass group (apart from Paul Hawkins) are either serving or retired forces musicians and have all played with the Band of the Coldstream Guards.”

The tour began with rehearsals at Peter Gabriel's Real World Studios in Box, Wiltshire before moving on to Edinburgh for the already critically acclaimed first show. Following this was Newcastle, Halifax and Birmingham, with a few tickets still available for the final two shows in Newport and London's Hackney Empire on the 1st and 2nd November respectively.
